Been working on the front pilot, running boards and skirting.  It takes a bit of doing to get everything lined up properly.  Here's a view after I got both running boards and ladders done.

I assembled what I had so far and took this picture to show the pilot along with the running boards, etc.  You can barely see it but the bell in installed under the plate directly under the smokebox door.

I thought I was done.  The running boards are made of 1/8" aluminum and looked too smooth.  They will be painted black but it just wouldn't look right.  So...  I bit the bullet and got a 18" x 24" sheet of scale diamond plate walkway.  There was a lot of area to cover and just about every inch of the diamond plate was going to be used.  I spent a good hour laying out the running boards, ladder steps, etc.  Made about 20 changes to squeeze it all in and still have the "grain" going the right way.  Here's a picture of the plate pretty much cut up with layout marks on the back

It's starting to look better.  The brass diamond plate was rough cut and placed on the running boards.  Still have to custom fit them.  (notice the painted skirting?)
